Hami Calls for Spiritual Revival to Combat Drug Menace

Patron of Karwani Islami International, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, on Friday underscored the timeless greatness and spiritual legacy of Hazrat Ali al-Murtaza (AS), urging society to revive spiritual values to counter growing social evils, particularly drug abuse.

Addressing a large gathering at the Central Jamia Masjid, Soibugh Budgam, on the occasion of Jumu‘ah, Allama Hami said that the unparalleled personality of Haider-e-Karrar, Hazrat Ali al-Murtaza (AS), continues to illuminate hearts and minds even today. He described Hazrat Ali (AS) as a source of guidance not only for the Muslim Ummah but for all humanity, whose remembrance dispels darkness and revives faith.

“All generations will remember Hazrat Ali al-Murtaza for his bravery, justice, knowledge and lofty spiritual rank,” Allama Hami said, adding that the Imam devoted his entire life to the supremacy of Islam and the service of humanity. He noted that Hazrat Ali (AS), known as the Gate of Knowledge, laid foundations of compassion, generosity and service that remain alive across centuries.

Highlighting the blessed household of Hazrat Ali (AS), Allama Hami said that his noble wife Sayyidatun-Nisa Fatimah al-Zahra (RA) and his sons Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn (RA) are shining examples of virtue whose lives continue to inspire humanity, as recorded in the books of Hadith and Seerah.

The scholar stressed that true love for Hazrat Ali (AS) must be reflected through adherence to his teachings. “Merely expressing love is not enough; acting upon his principles is the real sign of devotion,” he said. He added that distancing oneself from false ideologies, immoral practices and social evils is an essential part of the teachings of Hazrat Ali (AS).

Allama Hami expressed deep concern over the spread of drug addiction in society and termed it a serious threat to the moral and social fabric. He said that spreading spiritual teachings, especially those rooted in the legacy of Hazrat Ali (AS), Awliya Allah and Sufiya-e-Kiram, is the need of the hour to protect society from destructive influences.

He urged people to benefit from their rich spiritual heritage, safeguard their families from harmful ideologies and work collectively to eradicate drug abuse and other social evils, thereby fostering an environment of peace, faith and moral responsibility.
