Sheikh-ul-Alam Research University in Kashmir Moves Closer to Reality: Allama Hami

Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, Chief of Karwani Islami International, on Thursday said that the proposed Sheikh-ul-Alam Research University of Kashmir is nearing reality following recent legislative progress.

Addressing a large gathering at Central Jamia Masjid Hariwani in Khansahib, Hami stressed that the pursuit of knowledge is central to human development and a key component of faith, as emphasized in Islamic teachings. He highlighted Kashmir’s historical legacy as a hub of learning shaped by Sufis and Rishis.

Hami said a recent meeting involving Karwani Islami affiliates, educationists, and legal experts reviewed the university proposal and discussed the bill, with progress underway in coordination with concerned departments. He added that members of the public have pledged financial support, including offering land as waqf for the institution.

Describing the university as a potential milestone for regional development and peace, Hami also called for collective action against drug abuse, terming it both a social and religious responsibility.
