Kashmir Environmental and Social Organization Observes Earth Day 2026 in Uri, Boniyar

The Kashmir Environmental and Social Organization observed Earth Day 2026 with a two-day awareness programme in Uri and Boniyar areas of Baramulla, focusing on climate change awareness and sustainable living under the theme “Our Planet, Our Power.”

The event, supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, involved students from Army Goodwill Schools Uri and Boniyar, along with educators and environmental activists. Activities included painting, essay and slogan writing competitions, plantation drives, cultural programmes, and a student human chain to promote environmental responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, KESO Chairperson Rukhsana Maqbool and other speakers highlighted the growing impact of climate change in the Kashmir Valley and urged collective action to protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.

The programme concluded with prize distribution, certificates, and a pledge by students to adopt eco-friendly practices, reaffirming KESO’s commitment to environmental conservation in Jammu and Kashmir.
