The Municipal Committee Pahalgam has launched a plastic-free awareness campaign during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra by distributing reusable cotton bags to pilgrims and collecting single-use plastic items.
The initiative aims to reduce environmental pollution and promote sustainable practices along the yatra route. Officials said over 1.13 lakh pilgrims have performed darshan during the first five days of the pilgrimage and appealed to devotees to help maintain cleanliness and protect the region's fragile ecology.
