LG Sinha visits border shelling-hit areas

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday visited Pakistan shelling hit areas in Tanghdar area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and also met the victims.

Speaking with reporters, he said that many houses and commercial properties have been damaged due to the shelling.

“Today I visited those places with a senior administrative officer, saw the situation, and interacted with the people to understand their problems,” he said.

He added that based on the assessment, possible immediate assistance has been provided. “A few people are left to be rehabilitated. But I think this help is not enough. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and senior officers will jointly prepare a comprehensive plan for the damage,” he said.

The LG said that based on the comprehensive plan, J&K government will request the Centre, and rehabilitate the remaining people.

Sinha also visited the Shakti Vijay Brigade Headquarters in Tangdhar, where he was briefed on the planning and execution of Operation Sindoor. He interacted with the troops and praised their valour, high morale, and unwavering commitment to defending the nation's borders.
