As part of its ongoing crackdown on drug abuse, the Awantipora Police arrested two drug consumers in the Padgampora area on Wednesday.
The arrests were made during a routine patrol by a team from Police Station Awantipora, led by SHO Dy.SP(P) Atif Zahoor. The two individuals were found in suspicious circumstances at the Padgampora crossing.
Upon questioning, both admitted to being regular drug users. They were immediately shifted to the Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Tral, where medical tests confirmed drug use.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Faisal Manzoor Reshi, son of Manzoor Ahmad Reshi, resident of Herpora, Awantipora
Mudakir Hussain, son of Mumtaz Ali, resident of Lehra Kalimusta, Gool, Ramban
A case under FIR No. 154/2025 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of law.
The police reiterated their commitment to fighting the menace of drugs and urged the public to cooperate and report any suspicious activity in their areas.
