BJP’s Chugh Slams Revanth Reddy Over Remarks on Reservations, Accuses Congress of Vote-Bank Politics
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday criticised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his recent remarks on reservations, accusing the Congress party of pursuing “vote-bank appeasement” and attempting to divide society.
In a statement, Chugh alleged that the Congress was making comments that undermine the constitutional framework governing reservations. He said that reservation in the country is determined strictly on the basis of social justice principles laid down in the Constitution by its framers under the leadership of B.R. Ambedkar.
“The Congress Party, blinded by a vote-bank appeasement strategy, is making statements that divide society and undermine the core spirit and rights enshrined in the Constitution,” Chugh said.
He further claimed that the Congress, with support from organisations such as Jamaat-e-Islami and the Muslim League, was trying to create divisions on religious lines for political gain, referring to statements made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The Congress has not yet issued an official response to the BJP leader’s remarks.
