Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday launched a pointed attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over his decision to hold a government review meeting at Dachigam National Park, drawing sharp parallels between the wildlife reserve and what he described as the aloof functioning of the NC-led administration.
Taking to social media platform X, Lone sarcastically remarked that the "bombshell" promised by the Chief Minister turned out to be nothing more than a tourist trip. "Tourist to the core. A trip to the scenic and beautiful Dachigam," he wrote, mocking the offsite exercise.
Lone went further, using Dachigam's characteristics as a metaphor for the Omar Abdullah government. "Dachigam is actually symbolic for today's congregation. It is secluded, isolated, entry is restricted. That actually sums up the state of the present government — aloof, secluded, isolated and entry restricted," he said.
In a further sarcastic jab, Lone claimed that MLAs had effectively been "shifted into the Wildlife area" and would be handed an ultimatum to "fall in line — or stay back and provide company to the inhabitants of the zoo."
The remarks come hours after CM Omar Abdullah led National Conference ministers and MLAs to Dachigam in SRTC vehicles for a day-long stock-taking session reviewing 19 months of governance.
