Cluster University VC Chairs Pledge Ceremony Under NMBA

Cluster University Srinagar organised a pledge ceremony in its conference hall day before yesterday; under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), in accordance with the directions of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir to strengthen efforts towards a drug-free society.

The programme was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Mobin. The event was attended by Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Syed Wilayat Hussain Rizvi; Principals of constituent colleges namely Prof. (Dr.) Aijaz Ahmed Haqaq (Amar Singh College), Prof. (Dr.) Haris Izhar Tantray (S.P. College), and Prof. Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat (GDC Bemina); along with NMBA coordinators from constituent and affiliated colleges and the University’s Nodal Officer for NMBA.

The pledge was administered by Prof. (Dr.) Aijaz Ahmed Haqaq, with enthusiastic participation from faculty members, administrative staff, and other employees of the University, reflecting a collective commitment to combating drug abuse.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Mobin underscored the pivotal role of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens and safeguarding youth from the menace of drugs. He emphasised that sustained awareness, institutional responsibility, and community participation are essential to achieving the objectives of NMBA.

Prof. Mobin noted that the University and its affiliated colleges will implement a series of awareness programmes, outreach initiatives, and student-centric activities under the campaign, in strict adherence to the directions of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor. These efforts, he said, are aimed at generating a lasting grassroots impact and promoting a culture of awareness and well-being among students.

The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of the University’s commitment to contributing towards a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir and a healthier society.
