Chemists and Druggist Association Baramulla Meets Sakeena Yatoo Over Healthcare Issues
A delegation of the Chemists and Druggist Association Baramulla today called on Sakeena Yatoo, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Medical Education, at Dak Bungalow Baramulla to apprise her of the pressing healthcare concerns of the district and to submit a detailed representation seeking urgent intervention.
The meeting was attended by Javid Hassan Baig, Hon’ble MLA Baramulla, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Principal Government Medical College Baramulla, Medical Superintendent Government Medical College Baramulla, along with other senior officers from the Health and Medical Education Department and district administration.
The delegation was led by its Patron Mr Mohammad Ashraf Ganai and President Mr Ghulam Nabi Mir, who highlighted the growing burden on Government Medical College Baramulla due to the ever increasing patient inflow from across the district and adjoining areas. The delegation emphasized the urgent need for rational redistribution of departments, strengthening of infrastructure, and establishment of specialized medical facilities to ensure accessible and quality healthcare for the general public.
During the interaction, the delegation strongly projected the demand for relocation of non ICU departments to the Old District Hospital Baramulla in order to decongest the existing facilities and improve patient care. They also stressed upon the long pending need for establishing specialized departments such as Nephrology, Haematology and Oncology at Government Medical College Baramulla to cater to the rising incidence of chronic and life threatening ailments in the region.
The Hon’ble Minister gave a patient hearing to the concerns raised and assured the delegation that their demands would be addressed on priority. In a significant and immediate decision, she directed the concerned officials on the spot to initiate the process for shifting non ICU departments to the Old District Hospital Baramulla, recognizing it as a practical and people centric step towards easing the healthcare burden.
The Minister further reiterated the commitment of the Government towards strengthening healthcare services in peripheral districts and ensuring that advanced medical facilities are made available closer to the people. She assured that all necessary measures for infrastructure augmentation, availability of modern diagnostic equipment, and deployment of specialist doctors would be taken in a phased and time bound manner.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister for her prompt response, empathetic approach, and decisive action. They also appreciated the constructive role played by the district administration and health authorities during the interaction.
The Chemists and Druggist Association Baramulla expressed hope that the decisions taken today will mark the beginning of a transformative phase in the healthcare sector of the district, ultimately benefiting lakhs of people and reinforcing public faith in the system.
