MHA Designates 23 as Individual Terrorists

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday designated 23 operatives linked to banned terror outfits as individual terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Of them, 11 are originally from Jammu and Kashmir, while the remaining are Pakistani nationals.

The Centre said seven of the J&K natives are currently based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and four are residing in Pakistan. The designated individuals are accused of involvement in terror recruitment, infiltration, terror financing, arms smuggling and providing logistical support for terrorist activities.

The MHA said the action was taken under Section 35 of the UAPA after concluding that the individuals were involved in terrorism. With the latest notifications, the number of designated individual terrorists under the Fourth Schedule of the UAPA has increased to 80.
