Forces investigating videos of Budgam polling day incidents

 

11 persons identified for heckling, beating CRPF: DGP

Srinagar: The security forces Friday said that they are investigating the videos which have surfaced on social media about the three incidents in Budgam disitrct on polling day on April 9.

Three videos went viral on social media in which some youth are heckling CRPF men during polling day, a security personnel shooting dead a young boy who was pelting stones on them and the third video in which army have tied a youth infront of a security and moving ahead.

CRPF said that the video in which “mobsters” are heckling and abusing the paramilitary is being investigated.

“We are investigating the video. However, the video in which a stone pelter is shot dead is not done by CRPF. That is not CRPF,” Rajesh Yadav, spokesman of CRPF told KNS.

Army’s spokesman Rajesh Kalia told KNS that the video in which a young boy is tied to an army jeep “is being probed”.

“In reference to the video showing a young man tied to an army jeep, the contents of the video are being verified and investigated,” Kalia told KNS in text message.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police Dr S. P Vaid told KNS that the police has taken action in the incident in which CRPF personnel are being heckled and abused by the protesters.

“Police has registered an FIR in which the mobsters are heckling and beating the CRPF who were on poll duty. We have identified 11youths in connection with the incident. Five youths have been arrested, in which three are involved while the role of two youth is being investigated,” Vaid told KNS.

The DGP said that police has registered an FIR in the incident in which a young stone pelter is shot dead.

“Police filed the FIR as soon as the incident took place. But in what circumstances the youth was killed in a matter of investigation,” the DGP said, adding that the “veracity” of the third video in which a youth is seen tied to a army jeep is being “investigated”.
