Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Abdullah family, claiming they have never resigned from power and would compromise on the demand for full statehood as long as their political privileges remain intact.
"Omar would settle for anything below Union Territory status as long as there is no cut in protocol," Sharma said, accusing the National Conference of misleading the public on key political issues and revolving its politics around positions and protocol rather than people's interests.
The remarks come amid continuing debate over restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
