Independent MLAs Also Invited as CM Omar Convenes High-Level Meet on June 3
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is set to chair a high-level meeting at his Gupkar residence on June 3, with governance expected to be the key agenda, sources told KNO. All NC MLAs as well as four independent MLAs supporting the ruling party — Akram Choudhary, Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Muzaffar Iqbal Khan and Pyare Lal Sharma — have been invited.
Sources said the functioning of ministers is also likely to be discussed, with the meeting coming against the backdrop of simmering discontent among MLAs of a particular region against a minister accused of bias in project and fund allotment. Three MLAs had met the CM before Eid to lodge complaints, alleging their constituencies were being neglected while the minister's own constituency received a disproportionate share. A legislator from Central Kashmir had also alleged at an NC provincial committee meeting that the minister threatened to have him expelled after he raised a development issue.
NC leaders, when approached, claimed to be unaware of the agenda or the allegations.
