Manthala Bhaderwah residents hold protest against bad condition of road

BHADERWAH:Residents of Manthala area of Bhaderwah which is based on three thousand population today blocked the Jai -Bhaderwah -University link road for one hour to draw the attention of the authorities towards the pathetic condition of the Manthala Bhaderwah road from the last 25 years .The protesters led by woman’s and students gathered at the historical Seri Bazaar Bhaderwah and raised slogans against the authorities for their “failure” to repair the damaged road. A large number of vehicles were stranded for nearly one hours following the protest.“Since 1995, locals have been facing a lot of problem due to bad condition of the road but nothing has been done so far despite repeated requests,” said Sangeeta Devi a student of 12 class and a local resident of Mantahala .“Big potholes have developed between Dalyian village to Manthala road in the absence of any repair for the past 25 years. Every day accidents are occurring and people are getting injured due to bad condition of roads, but the authorities concerned are not serious about the plight of people . The poor road connectivity is also badly affecting the tourism potential in the area,” said Vishal Kumar , a local resident .He said if their demands were not fulfilled soon, they would be forced to intensify their agitation.Students of various educational institutions included Kavita DEvi , Anmol Kumar , Rajni Devi , Priya Sharma and others alleged misbehavior by the vehicle owners playing on Manthala route with students and demanded that SRTC buses should be sanctioned for the said route from where present BJP MLA got maximum votes in whole constituency .They also demanded half fair for students community and blacktopping of road as soon as possible and threatened mass agitation .“We had appealed to the concerned authorities to repair this link road, which is in dilapidated condition since long, but no step has been taken till today, which forced us to take this harsh step”, they added.They stated that the condition of link road is pathetic and it makes traveling difficult and even leads to accidents various times.The bad condition of road had become a nuisance, especially during the rains, they added.Meanwhile, MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh Parihar along with SDPO Birjesh Sharma reached the spot and pacified the protesters. MLA assured that he will try to resolve the issue with the help of the officials concerned and also sanctioned some amount from his CDF fund . Following this the protesters lifted the blockade.
