RAMBAN, June 26: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the district Ramban today concurrently with other parts of the country.
The biggest congregation took place at Jamia Masjid Sharif Ramban here where thousands of devotees performed Nimaz –e-Eid and prayed for peace, development and prosperity of the State as well as of the country.
Muslim brothers also exchanged wishes, sweets and gifts with people from all walks of life.
All elaborate security and other necessary arrangements were also made by district and police administration for smooth celebration of Eid-ul- Fitr festival.
Eid Namaz was also offered at other mosques of town and its outskirts including, mosques of Chandrog, Maitra and Upper Ramban.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai along with officers of district administration extending greetings to the Muslim brethren.
He said that such religious occasions inspire us to follow the spiritual preaching of great saints and Sufis, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of humanity, to lead a peaceful and prosperous life.
He asserted that Eid-ul- Fitr reminds us of our responsibility towards poor and needy and inculcates the spirit of sharing happiness and joy with everyone.
On the occasion, SSP Ramban Mohan lal, ADC Angrez Singh congratulated and greeted the people of Ramban and said that such occasions would promote unity, communal harmony and brotherhood in the State as well as in the district.
Reports coming from other parts of the district said that Eid was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in Tehsil Banihal, Ukhral, Batote ,Gool and Rajgrah.
