KVIB Selections: Probe panel to file report by Oct 31

SRINAGAR: The Governor’s administration Monday ordered extension of time for finalizing the report by the Inquiry Committee constituted to inquire into the selections made by the J&K Khadi Village and Industries Board (KVIB) against various posts.

According to the order, the term for finalizing the report by the Inquiry Committee has been extended up to 31 October 2018.

The probe called for the row over selection of various posts in Khadi Village Industries Board has failed already to submit its report even passing around seven months.

On February 25, the then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had ordered a high-level enquiry into the procedural inadequacies in the selection process of the KVIB.

She had ordered the probe following severe criticism over the appointment of her nephew Aroot Madni (37), son of senior PDP leader Sartaj Madni as an executive officer in the board.

The enquiry was being carried by the three member panel headed by RK Goyal, Principal Secretary Home Department. Its members include Dr Pawal Kotwal and Farooq Ahmad Shah.

However, the committee has missed several deadlines so far and is unsure about timing for submitting the report.
