Weatherman predicts two day wet spell from today
Kashmir is likely to get relief from hot and humid weather conditions as Meteorological department has forecasted light rainfall between 20- 21st August, while its main activity would be on Friday evening.
Director Meteorological Department Srinagar, Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir that they were expecting light rains scattered places of Kashmir from Thursday onwards.
“Due to active monsoon system, there are chances of widespread light to moderate rain at scattered places in Kashmir, while moderate rain with heavy showers in in Jammu region also,” he said.
Lotus also said that isolated places of Ladakh region mainly in Kargil district will also witness the light rains during next 24-36hrs.
As per the weatherman, the rainfall likely to generate flash flood and landslide at vulnerable spots of JK during above periods as the land especially in Jammu region.
The spell would likely bring relief from hot weather conditions in the valley. In next 24 hours, there are chances of isolated to scattered light rain, thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir while mainly dry in the Ladakh region.
“There would be some respite from the heat as day temperature during the next two to three days was “expected to drop few degrees Celsius,” the weatherman said adding that the temperature will rise again towards the end of this month. (Agencies)
