Arms Cache Recovered Near IB in J&K: Official Sources

Security forces achieved a major success after recovering a cache of arms and ammunition from Paloora village near the International Border in Samba district, following suspected drone movement in the area, officials said.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, late last night local residents noticed a drone hovering over the area for nearly two minutes and promptly informed the security forces. Acting on the information, police and other security agencies launched a joint search operation in the vicinity.

During the operation, security forces recovered two pistols, one hand grenade, three magazines and around 16 pistol rounds, they said.

The recovery is being viewed as a major thwarting of a possible terror-linked attempt to smuggle weapons into the area.

Following the recovery, the entire area has been cordoned off and security has been further strengthened, sources said.

Security forces have intensified surveillance and launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the intended recipients of the weapons and the network involved in the drone drop. (KNC)
