The Army has rolled out an Aadhaar-based digital entry and exit system at Line of Control (LoC) gates in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at easing movement for residents living beyond the border fencing while maintaining strict security protocols.
The digital mechanism enables quick identification through Aadhaar verification, significantly cutting waiting times at designated gates that locals routinely use for agriculture, daily activities, and essential travel.
Officials said the system streamlines access procedures without compromising security safeguards, reflecting a broader push towards deploying digital tools in sensitive border zones to strengthen identification mechanisms and improve civilian facilitation.
