Over 1,000 Drug Peddlers Arrested, 930 FIRs Filed Across J&K: LG

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday declared the administration's firm resolve to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free, revealing that around 930 FIRs have been registered and over 1,000 drug peddlers and smugglers arrested as part of an intensified anti-narcotics crackdown.

Addressing a gathering in Kulgam, the LG said authorities have also cancelled over 600 driving licences and recommended cancellation of 124 passports of individuals allegedly linked to drug-related activities.

Sinha stressed that combating the drug menace is a collective social responsibility involving families, educational institutions, religious leaders and civil society — not merely a law-enforcement challenge — and urged the youth to stay away from narcotics.

"We will not sit until a drug-free society is achieved in Jammu and Kashmir," the LG declared, reiterating the administration's zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and trafficking.
