Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Saturday confirmed that the government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) issue, reaffirming the administration's commitment to safeguarding the interests of teachers across the Union Territory.
Minister Itoovelopment on X, the minister said: "As committed, the review petition has been filed before the Hon'ble Supreme Court. The Government has consistently pursued this matter and remains fully committed to safeguarding the interests of our teachers."
The move follows the government's announcement on May 30 that it would file a review petition, after the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs had on May 26 directed its Standing Counsel to initiate the necessary legal proceedings.
The development comes months after the School Education Department kept its order designating JKBOSE/State School Standards Authority (SSSA) as the nodal agency for conducting TET in abeyance pending further orders, following directions from the Supreme Court of India.
Minister Itoo emphasised that the government has consistently acted responsibly and proactively on the TET issue and has a track record of taking concrete steps to protect teachers' interests.
