No Developed J&K Without Empowered Women, Says LG

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said women’s empowerment is central to the vision of a developed Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the progress of society is impossible without the progress of women.

Addressing a felicitation ceremony for Gender Equity Advocates in Srinagar, Sinha described the initiative as a historic step towards gender equality. He said he envisions a Jammu and Kashmir where women lead in education, entrepreneurship, governance, literature and public policymaking, and where every girl grows up believing her aspirations have no limits.

Highlighting efforts to strengthen women’s economic independence, the Lieutenant Governor referred to several government initiatives promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance. He also noted that girls continue to excel academically, securing a majority of university gold medals.

Calling for collective responsibility, Sinha urged youth and men to actively support women’s leadership, saying empowering women is a shared societal commitment and key to the region’s future progress.
