Peace and friendship organisations from India and Pakistan have decided to hold their annual candlelight vigil at the Attari-Wagah border on the night of August 14 to promote peace and goodwill between the two countries.

The programme will include seminars on India-Pakistan relations and human rights in Lahore and Amritsar, with journalists, former diplomats, academics and peace activists expected to participate before the candlelight events on both sides of the border.

Organisers said preparations for the event have begun, with more details about the programme to be announced in the coming days.
