A top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, Zakir Ganie, was killed in an ongoing anti-terror operation in the Chanapora area of south Kashmir's Shopian district, police said on Tuesday. Another militant is believed to be trapped at the encounter site.
Police said Ganie had been hiding along with an accomplice for the past five days.
His body, along with arms and ammunition, was recovered from a cowshed during the operation. Officials termed the killing a major success, adding that fresh firing near the site suggests the presence of another militant.
