PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said her party would join the proposed Jantar Mantar protest in New Delhi only if the campaign goes beyond the demand for restoration of statehood and also seeks the restoration of Article 370, the release of political prisoners and other constitutional safeguards for Jammu and Kashmir.

In a letter to Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba urged the convening of an all-party meeting to evolve a common roadmap for restoring constitutional and democratic rights, asserting that statehood alone would not address the larger political issues facing the region.
