COVID-19: 978 SOP violators fined, six FIRs registered, 17 arrested, say Police
Srinagar, Apr 28 : Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday said that 978 persons who were found violating the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) were fined while six FIRs registered and 17 persons arrested.
“Keeping in view the recent daily surge in the number of cases in Kashmir Valley, Police in its efforts to implement Covid-19 guidelines strictly has arrested 17 persons in the last 24 hours, lodged 06 FIRs and also realized the fine to the tune of Rs 118,760 from 978 people for violating the guidelines/rules. The special drive against the violators of COVID-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Moreover, he said Budgam and Sopore Police held review meetings with the Imams, religious leaders and Auqaf Committees regarding adherence to the COVID-19 containment measures to be followed in Masajid.
These meetings were held at SDPO office Khansahab and Police Station Dangiwacha. The meeting at SDPO office Khansahab was chaired by SDPO alongwith BMO Khansahab, while as SHO PS Dangiwacha chaired a meeting at PS Dangiwacha.
Meanwhile, police urged people to cooperate in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs, guidelines and protocols for the safety of the people—(KNO)
