Journalist Adil Shabir of Tameel-i-Irshad was honoured for his contribution to social awareness during a sensitization and awareness programme for senior citizens held at Town Hall Lagama in Uri.
On the occasion, Shabir was presented with a memento by the Sub-Judge Judicial Magistrate Uri and the Social Welfare Officer of Uri–Boniyar in recognition of his efforts in highlighting issues related to senior citizens and promoting social awareness through journalism.
The programme was organised to raise awareness about the rights, welfare schemes and support systems available for senior citizens. Speakers at the event stressed the need for greater community participation and awareness to ensure the dignity and well-being of elderly people.
Participants appreciated the role of responsible journalism in bringing social issues to the forefront and acknowledged the contribution of media professionals like Adil Shabir in creating awareness among the public.
