A massive fire broke out in the Akhnoor area of Jammu district early Saturday morning, gutting two hardware stores and a sweet shop and causing damage to property and goods worth lakhs of rupees.
Locals rushed to the spot as flames rapidly intensified and thick smoke engulfed the market area before fire and emergency services personnel arrived to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading. No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Police have registered a formal case.
