The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed a supplementary chargesheet naming Hafiz Saeed in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives, including 25 tourists and a local resident.
The agency charged Saeed in his individual capacity as well as in his role as chief of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its proxy outfit The Resistance Front. He has been booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, including charges related to waging war against India and criminal conspiracy.
According to the NIA, the supplementary chargesheet expands on Pakistan's alleged conspiracy, Saeed's role and evidence gathered through scientific investigation and field inquiries. The agency had earlier chargesheeted Pakistani handler Sajid Jatt, three terrorists killed during Operation Mahadev, two arrested accused, and the LeT/TRF as a legal entity for its alleged role in planning and executing the attack.
