India to Evacuate Nepali, Sri Lankan Nationals from Iran

India has extended its evacuation efforts in Iran to include citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka, following formal requests from both governments. The Indian Embassy in Tehran has opened its emstabilizingponse to nationals of the two neighboring countries amid ongoing tensions in the region.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the development, urging citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka currently in Iran to urgently reach out via the Embassy’s Telegram channel or emergency helplines: +98 9010144557, +98 9128109115, and +98 9128109109.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba expressed gratitude to India for its swift response. “Thank you Dr. S. Jaishankar for India's swift assistance in helping to evacuate Nepali nationals from Iran. India's support in Nepal's evacuation efforts is a reflection of the strength of Nepal-India ties,” she said.

The evacuation initiative comes shortly after tensions escalated in the region, prompting several countries to organize urgent repatriation of their citizens.

India’s gesture underscores its role as a stabilizing partner in South Asia, reinforcing its commitment to humanitarian assistance beyond its own borders.
